How to Have a Healthy (ish)! Christmas

The festive season is once again upon us and after a tough year for everyone, it is a much-needed chance to relax and let loose a little. Spending valuable time with family and friends, whilst participating in festive activities is bound to put you in a good mood with a healthy mindset.

Christmas is often associated with an indulgence of heavy food and drinks, however, it is possible to still maintain a level of healthiness during this period.

Udo’s Choice have a wide range of  foods & supplements that can be incorporated into your diet which combined with some exercise and a little self restraint can mean that you don’t need to worry too much about ALL the eating and drinking.

Adding More Greens to Your Diet

Managing a healthy diet over Christmas can be as simple as adding in more vegetation. Udo’s Choice offer a simple solution with Beyond Greens, which provide an organic source of protein, enzymes, vitamins & essential fatty acids. These greens are ideal to mix with a smoothie, making for an excellent healthy addition to your Christmas meals! Udo’s Choice Beyond Greens are a vitalising blend of organic greens which include green vegetables and fermented grasses, nutrient rich algae & seaweeds of spirulina, dulse and chlorella. They also contain a mixture of digestive herbs including alfalfa herb, ginger root, cinnamon bark and liquorice root, as well as fibre from flax, sunflower and sesame seeds.

TIP: Try and get your Beyond Greens into your diet early, ideally first thing in the day either mixed with water or added to a healthy smoothie (we've got loads of ideas on our site).

Keeping Your Digestion Healthy

To ensure healthy digestion, Udo’s Choice are here to help with the Digestive Enzyme Range. This range of products come in the form of capsules that contain plant-based enzymes to assist the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates, soluble fibre, starch, milk sugar and complex sugars aiding healthy digestion and nutrient absorption.

Consuming a lot of heavy food can be challenging for your gut. So, providing your gut with a good level of fibre over the holiday season can be beneficial.

Microbiotics are the friendly bacteria that could help balance your gut bacteria and ensure your digestive system is functioning effectively. Udo’s Choice have a range of Microbiotic Capsules that contain different strains of friendly live bacteria.

TIP: Combining Udo’s Choice Microbiotics capsules with the Digestive Enzyme capsules is likely to yield the best results for your digestion.

Consuming Essential Fatty Acids

People often want to look and feel their best at times over the holiday period, and it can be anxiety-inducing to think about. To keep yourself looking and feeling healthy, it’s important to consider whether you are getting enough omega 3, 6 and 9. You may have heard how essential fatty acids (good fats) can be for our health, however fatty acids omega 3, 6 and 9 are often overlooked when it comes to keeping a healthy diet. Our bodies aren't capable of producing omega 3 & 6, so it is essential we consume them from food or other sources. Thankfully, Udo’s Choice Ultimate Oil Blend contains omega 3, 6 and 9 to ensure your body gets the beneficial fatty acids your body needs in the optimum ratio.

TIP: Don't cook with the oil. The easiest way to use it is by mixing it in a smoothie or juice; add it into a smoothie with your Beyond Greens.

Don’t Forget to Exercise!

In addition to adding some healthy food supplements to your diet, it’s important to get some exercise in. Whilst the cold weather can be off putting, going for a regular brisk walk or jog will really help to maintain a healthy mind, body and lifestyle. There are also plenty of exercise routines you can do at home that don’t require any equipment.

Of course, Christmas is a time to enjoy yourself, and to spend time relaxing with those who mean the most to you. However, keeping a healthy lifestyle throughout this period is possible and will be beneficial for your mind and body.

TIP: Go for a walk, either first thing when you wake up, or after you've eaten a big meal, you'll feel better for it, trust us!!
